"Ove Rytter has been my friend for the last 20 years. I have seen him grow into a top-notch bodybuilder and promoter of our sport. Ove Rytter's magazine is one of the best magazines in the world and he dedicates his heart and soul to promote bodybuilding.
Ove Rytter's passion about bodybuilding is something that impresses me very much, and although he is very well known in Scandinavia and, to a point, around the world, I felt it was my duty to present him with the highest award of the IFBB and give him the maximum exposure to the 173 countries that are affiliated to the IFBB.

The dedication and motivation that Ove Rytter has shown for the sport of bodybuilding should be recognized. This is the reason why I have decided to present Ove Rytter with the prestigious IFBB Gold Medal and Ribbon. This is the highest IFBB award and it is given only to selected people in various countries around the world.
My love for Sweden goes back to the early 1950s when I was friendly with Börje Franzén, who was involved with weightlifting and started the bodybuilding movement through the IFBB. Since those days, Sweden has been a very important member of the IFBB, and I thank Ove Rytter for his high motivation and dedication to our sport and his loyalty to the IFBB."

Details for the ceremony
The presentation of the medal will be made at the contest, Mr Olympia, itself, for maximum exposure. After the opening speech, which I will make, I will call you on stage to the make the presentation to you. Please arrange to have your photographers, and editorial people, available for the event. I am sure that you will be pleased with the medal and ceremony. The ceremony will also be shown on "Pay Per View" and we hope that numerous thousands of people, all over the world, will see it. IFBB hedrade Ove Rytter

IFBB:s president avslutade sitt inledningstal under Mr Olympia, genom att tilldela Ove Rytter IFBB:s högsta utmärkelse: The Golden Medal and Ribbon.
Ove tackade IFBB och passade på att reklamera lite för Sverige, genom att överräcka en originalbild från 1800-talets slut. Bilden, som tagits fram av Tekniska Museet i Stockholm, föreställde världens första riktiga armcurlmaskin, konstruerad av Gustaf Zander.
Det var en stor överraskning för de flesta i publiken att Sverige var det första gymlandet i världen.

Under kommande Olympia Weekend i Las Vegas kommer IFBB-presidenten att tilldela en svensk IFBB Golden Medal and Ribbon. Utmärkelsen - som delas ut på scenen under öppningen av Mr Olympia - tilldelas B&K Sports Magazines grundare, Ove Rytter.
