"We are now taking the unprecedented action of completing a plan to work towards gaining official status as a demonstration sport at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. What an appropriate stage, given that the Greek Olympians were the first true bodybuilders.
It is important for our members to understand that the official recognition granted to the IFBB under Rule 29 of the Olympic Charter is not the final word of the IOC. We continue to work towards receiving the highest possible respect from the IOC by operating in accordance with its principles."

Franska vetenskapsmän presenterade på fredagen nya rön angående Napoleon Bonapartes död på medelhavsön St Helena 1821. Enligt Pascal Kintz, toxikolog, har man funnit bevis för att den franske kejsaren mördats med arsenik, skriver nyhetsbyrån Reuters.
Den nya franska undersökningen finansierades av Dr Ben Weider, en kanadensisk Napoleon-entusiast som länge uppgett att en kejsaren mördades. Weider är ordförande i Internationella Napoleon-sällskapet.
Enligt Weider låg en grupp franska och engelska politiker bakom mordet, rädda för att Napoleon skulle återvända till den europeiska stormaktspolitiken och hota deras framtida positioner.

"French scientists on Friday presented new findings which they say prove that Napoleon was poisoned with arsenic, reinforcing the controversial theory that the emperor was murdered by French and British conspirators.
"The analysis showed there was major exposure, and I stress 'major,' to arsenic," said Pascal Kintz, a toxicologist who studied five samples of Napoleon's hair preserved since his death in exile on the island of St. Helena in 1821.
The research was commissioned by Ben Weider, a Canadian Napoleon enthusiast and a long-time proponent of the theory--rejected by most mainstream historians--that the illustrious Corsican was murdered by high-ranking French and English figures because he remained a threat to their power."

American Bodybuilding: Bodybuilding har fått 'full and final approval' av den Internationella Olympiska Kommittén: 13 augusti 2000
"Two weeks ago, around August 1st, the bodybuilding world got an incredible jolt, as Ben Weider's dream of full recognition in the IOC came true.
There are two stages in getting to the Olympic games in Athens in 2004. The first stage was that you needed to have full and final approval from the IOC. That stage was just completed. The reason for that is that you can't deal with anyone in the IOC until they recognize you as one of the Olympic federations.
The next step that is needed is to work towards demonstration status in which the IFBB and Ben Weider are working on now, so that the sport of bodybuilding can participate as a demonstration sport in the Greek Games of 2004. That step will start by making a presentation to the Greek Organizing Committee.
So what was the difference between the original letter and breakthrough two years ago and this time? The original letter gave the sport of bodybuilding what they called a 2-year temporary recognition. Now, bodybuilding has full, absolute recognition which cannot be revoked."
