The International Federation of Strength Athletes (IFSA) and the promoter World Class International proudly presents:
The Strong Man Super Series
In the last couple of years, The Strong Man sport has received global recognition, airing on television stations around the world. "The World's Strongest Man" is broadcasted in seventy nations and reaches a potential audience of 700 million people.
Now, with the launch of IFSA Strong Man Super Series, the international federations of strength athletes has created a tour of Grand Prix events. In each Grand Prix, points are awarded to the athletes and, as in Formula 1, the athlete with the most points at the end of each season is the World Champion.
Every tournament has a total of twelve competitors. The eight highest ranked athletes on IFSA International Ranking are qualified to the Super Series. In addition to this, each local promoter has a total of four wild card picks for his tournament.
The Super Series season starts in May and ends in November and contains a minimum of five tournaments world wide, including the World final. THe tentative schedule for 2002 includes events in Honolulu, USA, Prague, Czech Republic, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Bijing, China and the world finale in Stockholm, Sweden. Other locations are currently in negations of joining the Super Series.
Each Grand Prix has six events of competition. Four of them are standard events, and two are chosen, upon approval of IFSA, by the local promoter. The standard events are:
- Truck Pull
- Log Lift
- Power Stairs
- Medley (Tire Flip, Farmer's Walk, Loading event)
For the season of 2002, the program format will be a 50 minutes highlight show from each event, distributed the weekend following the Grand Prix. From 2003, IFSA and World Class International are planning on airing the events live.
